Florida Sod Options






Floritam: Is probably the most popular grass in Southwest Florida. Ideal maintenance height is at least 4 inches. This is a centipede grass that spreads side to side. This variety does require consistant water. Shady areas can be difficult to fill with regular Floritam. Palmetto is the choice for those shady areas and it looks similiar to Floritam.

Bahia: This grass is a thinner blade that grows quite fast in the rainy season. Bahia has excellent drought tolerance which makes it appealing for eco-friendly applications. Bahia can go dormant in the dry seaon and bounce right back with a bit of water. An irrigation system is not required with this grass. This is the most economical grass you will find in Southwest Florida. Zoysia: A soft thin blade of grass.

Zoysia is the only grass approved for Green Building standards. Most varieties of Zoysia can be maintenance between 2 and 3 inches. It is quite drought tolerant and can go dormant in the dry season. While a sprinkler system is not required for this grass, it is recommended if you desire year round green color. Zoysia is resistant to chinch back as well!

Paspalum: This is a high end grass that can be maintained quite short. It has excellent wear tolerance. Another cool apsect is that you can use salt as a herbicide with this grass. A sprinkler system is required for this grass. A reel mower is recommended as well... This is a good choice for a golf green in your back yard.

Bermuda: This grass is found at many athletic complexes. it has a thin blade that should be cut short. Bermuda grass is an excellent surface for a ball field, child care center, or even cheerleading practice. An irrigation system is recommended for optimum results
